AWARENESS MEETING ABOUT THALASSEMIA
On July 1, 2024, a thalassemia awareness meeting was held at Rajshahi Medical College Hospital, Rajshahi, organized by Social Action, Health & Humanities Research Assocation “SAHRA”. Many of patients, medical staffs and others people were present there. The Treasurer of SAHRA Md. Shoriful Islam Sayed delivered a Awareness Speech on Thalassemia
He said, “Respected audience, today I want to draw your attention to a silent but serious health condition—Thalassemia.
Thalassemia is not just a medical term; it is a lifelong struggle for thousands of children and families around the world. It is an inherited blood disorder where the body cannot produce enough healthy hemoglobin, leading to severe anemia. Patients often require regular blood transfusions and medical care throughout their lives.
But here’s the truth: Thalassemia is preventable. With simple blood tests before marriage, couples can know whether they carry the gene. Awareness, education, and responsible choices can save future generations from suffering.
We must remember that every drop of blood donated can give hope to a child battling this disease. Every word we speak to raise awareness can prevent another family from facing this hardship.
So let us pledge today—to spread knowledge, to support patients, and to encourage testing. Together, we can build a future where no child is born with Thalassemia.”
