Published by Md. Shoriful Islam Sayed on

A free medical camp was organized by Social Action, Health & Humanities Research Association “SAHRA” on 01/08/2025 at Padma Clinic and Diagnostic Center, Hospital Road, Chapainawabganj. There, many patients received free treatment from specialist doctors in various departments including gynecology, medicine, and orthopedics.

There ware present the Hon’ble President of SAHRA Dr. Md. Zahangir Alam and Tresurer Md. Shoriful Islam Sayed.

Mr. Sayed delivered a detailed discussion on why the free medical camp is being organized, what its benefits are, and so on. For example-

Primary public health benefits:
Free medical camps address immediate medical deficits while fostering long-term behavioral changes within vulnerable populations.

Early disease detection:

  • Asymptomatic screening: Many chronic conditions, such as hypertension, diabetes, and certain cancers (breast, cervical, prostate), develop silently without early symptoms.
  • Timely intervention: Catching conditions early through camp diagnostics allows patients to seek preventative measures or start treatments before irreversible organ or tissue damage occurs.

Mitigation of financial burdens:

  • Zero-cost services: High healthcare fees often force impoverished families to choose between basic nutrition and essential medicine.
  • Comprehensive aid: Most well-organized camps offer free professional consultations, basic laboratory tests, and prescription drug distribution, preventing families from falling into medical debt.

Targeted community health education:

  • Preventative literacy: Camps go beyond physical treatment by hosting educational sessions focused on nutrition, hygiene, and safe lifestyle choices.
  • Demystifying stigmas: Direct interactions with qualified medical professionals help dispel local taboos or fear surrounding serious diseases like cancer.

Broadening healthcare access:

  • Geographic mobilization: For communities living in isolated regions where stationary clinics are non-existent, mobile medical camps act as the primary point of healthcare contact.
  • Specialized care deployment: These camps frequently bring specialized medical professionals (such as gynecologists, pediatricians, and oncologists) directly to people who otherwise could never afford or travel to see them.
